Here’s what’s happening under the helmet and inside your body when fasting while riding motorcycles:
• Glycogen stores deplete

In a 72-hour fast, you might burn around 0.5 to 1 pound of body fat. The rest? Mostly water and glycogen. Still, that’s not nothing and it’s a powerful metabolic shift.

If you’ve ever found yourself somewhere remote like between Jasper and Banff, you’ve probably fasted without even realizing it.
I remember one ride through the Icefields Parkway on my Ducati Monster. I’d packed snacks, but between the winding roads, glacier views, and that pure alpine clean air, I forgot to eat. 20 hours went by before I stopped for a proper meal back at home.
